BMVC rocks Belfast!

Date: 30 April 2024 | By: Nick M

The choir has just returned from a trip to Belfast where we were hosted by the Lisburn Community Choir, led by the inimitable Tim Reynolds.

We performed at 2 outstanding venues.

Firstly, at the iconic home of Northern Ireland’s parliament, Stormont House: where on the evening of the 26th we sang for an appreciative audience in the main hall. Tim accompanied us on a couple of our songs . It was a memorable night for all concerned.

The second event was held on the evening of the 27th at the historic Ulster Linen Hall; where we were guests at a ‘Chart Toppers’ choir event – hosted by the Lisburn Community Choir who were accompanied by their junior section, the Lisburn Community Children’s Choir (both choirs being led by Tim Reynolds). The guest soloists were the excellent Aideen Fox and Mark Leeman.

This was another hugely enjoyable concert at which BMVC sang a number of pop standards, including Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, an American Trilogy (made famous by Elvis Presley) and the Beach Boys’ Surfin’ USA. These songs were interspersed with some songs from the traditional Welsh male voice repertoire but rounded off with our own arrangement ‘The Sky and Space Trilogy’.

During this short but memorable trip BMVC renewed some old friendships and established some very firm new ones.

We hope to host the Lisburn Community Choir in South Wales in the near future.

Meanwhile BMVC is very grateful to Tim Reynolds and his team from the Lisburn choirs for a memorable visit to Belfast!
