April 2022 – Pembrokeshire Tour

Date: 13 June 2022 | By: James Ford

April saw the first choir tour in over 2 years with a trip to West Wales and on Friday 1st April  68 choristers wives, partners and Friends clambered aboard the 2 buses to Tenby. That evening we joined with Neyland Ladies Choir for a concert in Queen’s Hall Narberth. Both choirs repertoires were varied and were well received by the audience.  Our guest soloist was Jess Robinson who gave a truly memorable performance ably accompanied by our own Emma Arscott. Both choirs and Jess joined together to sing Anthem from Chess as a mark of support for the Ukrainians.

On  Saturday 2nd April we travelled by coach to St David’s to perform in the Cathedral. This was not a ticketed event but was nevertheless well attended.  Our repertoire was well received and Martin Evans gave a magnificent solo performance.  Our ladies organised a bucket collection for Ukraine and over £850 was raised and sent on via the Disasters Emergency Committee.

We stopped at Neath Abbey on the way home and Gwilym Hughes and Diane Williams gave a talk on its  history.

Phil Bacon did a brilliant job in organising the transport and hotels.
