Dorothy Connell – Director

Dorothy hails from Ayrshire in Scotland where she attended Glasgow University and graduated in 1976 with an MA in English and Music.  Having had a long-standing love affair with choral singing Dorothy was honoured to become director of Barry Male Voice Choir in January 2009.  “Dot” has directed various groups of singers including Institute of Healthcare Studies Choir, Porthkerry Rd Church Choir, Côr Plant y Fro, Voices of Hope, and in 2005 she co-founded the Barry-based musical theatre group, Pukka Productions, a group with which she is still closely involved.  As well as directing Barry Male Voice, Dorothy also conducts Vale Voices, a mixed community choir which meets for 12 weeks a year.  In 2014 she was thrilled to direct the winning choir in the Dysgwyr class at the National Eisteddfod. Dot also works at Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg, and her spare time activities include playing the organ and volunteering at Amelia Methodist Trust Farm.
