Dorothy Connell – Director

Dorothy hails from Ayrshire in Scotland where she attended Glasgow University and graduated in 1976 with an MA in English and Music. In 1985 she married Bob and moved to Barry where they now live with their two children. Having had a long-standing love affair with choral singing Dorothy was honoured to become director of Barry Male Voice Choir in January 2009. Over the past 15 years “Dot” has directed various groups of singers including Institute of Healthcare Studies Choir, Porthkerry Rd Church Choir, Côr Plant y Fro, Voices of Hope, and in 2005 she co-founded the Barry-based musical theatre group, Pukka Productions. When not directing Barry Male Voice, Dorothy works at Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg, and her spare time activities include playing the organ, being a member of Barry Vale Rotary Club (mostly in absentia!) and volunteering at Amelia Methodist Trust Farm.
